Enjoy a leisurely evening, fuel up with a good meal, and get plenty of rest your trekking adventure begins tomorrow!

Day 2: Londorosi Gate To Mti Mkubwa Gate

Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Highlights: Rainforest hiking, diverse wildlife, including colobus monkeys

After breakfast, set out on a scenic drive to Londorossi Gate, where you’ll complete registration and meet your mountain crew. From here, a short transfer leads to the Lemosho trailhead, the starting point of your trek.

The first section of the trail winds through dense rainforest, a habitat rich with towering trees, tropical plants, and unique wildlife. Along the way, you may spot black-and-white colobus monkeys swinging through the treetops and hear the calls of exotic birds.

Your trek today is relatively short, giving you time to adjust to the trail and enjoy the serene surroundings. By late afternoon, you’ll reach Mti Mkubwa Camp (Big Tree Camp), where a warm meal and a peaceful night’s rest under the forest canopy await.

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa Camp To Shira 1 Camp

Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Highlights: Scenic ridge walks, transition from rainforest to moorland, stunning views

As you leave the rainforest behind, the landscape changes dramatically. The trail climbs through heather and moorland, offering expansive views as the vegetation thins. The ascent leads you to the Shira Ridge, a breathtaking vantage point where you’ll get your first clear sight of Kilimanjaro’s peak.

Crossing the Shira Plateau, you’ll be surrounded by volcanic rock formations and open grasslands, creating a stark yet beautiful contrast to the lush jungle of the previous day. Arriving at Shira 1 Camp, enjoy a warm meal and soak in the vast mountain scenery before settling in for the night.

Day 4: Shira 1 To Shira 2 Camp

Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Highlights: Acclimatization hike, vast mountain landscapes, breathtaking sunsets

Today’s trek is a relatively moderate journey across the high-altitude Shira Plateau. You’ll gradually gain elevation, giving your body time to adjust while still covering significant ground. The landscape is open and exposed, with occasional sightings of endemic plant species such as giant lobelias and everlasting flowers.

Upon reaching Shira 2 Camp, you’ll have the chance to explore the surrounding area and take in unobstructed views of Kibo Peak, the highest part of Kilimanjaro. The afternoon is dedicated to rest and acclimatization, as your body prepares for higher altitudes in the coming days.

Day 5: Shira 2 Camp To Lava Tower, Descend To Barranco Camp

Hiking Time: 6–7 hours
Highlights: Acclimatization at high altitude, dramatic volcanic terrain, Lava Tower ascent

Today is a key acclimatization day, as you climb gradually into the alpine desert zone. The path leads to Lava Tower, a striking volcanic rock formation standing at 4,600 meters, offering your highest altitude exposure so far.

After lunch at Lava Tower, you’ll begin your descent toward Barranco Camp, following the "climb high, sleep low" approach to help your body adjust. Along the way, you’ll pass through a surreal landscape of giant senecio trees before reaching the beautifully located Barranco Camp, nestled in a valley beneath the towering Barranco Wall.

Day 6: Barranco Camp To Karanga Camp

Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Highlights: Climbing the famous Barranco Wall, panoramic views of glaciers

The morning begins with an exciting challenge—scaling the Barranco Wall. Though it appears steep, this climb is not technical, and with careful foot placement and the support of your guide, you’ll reach the top for a spectacular view of the surrounding glaciers and valleys.

The rest of the trek is a gentle ascent and descent over rolling ridges, leading to Karanga Camp. This relatively short trekking day allows for extra acclimatization and rest, preparing you for the higher altitudes ahead.

Day 7: Karanga Camp To Barafu Camp

Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Highlights: High-altitude trek, preparation for the summit push

Today’s trek takes you into Kilimanjaro’s stark alpine desert, where the terrain is rocky and exposed. The trail ascends steadily toward Barafu Camp, the final base before your summit attempt.

Arriving in the early afternoon, you’ll have time to rest, hydrate, and prepare for the final ascent. After an early dinner, you’ll settle in for a few hours of sleep, as the summit push begins just after midnight.

Day 8: Barafu Camp To Uhuru Camp, Descend To Millennium Camp

Hiking Time: 13–16 hours
Highlights: Reaching Africa’s highest peak, sunrise over the glaciers, long descent

Your summit attempt begins in the early hours of the morning. With headlamps lighting the way, you’ll make the slow, steady climb toward Stella Point (5,756 m), where the first rays of sunrise will begin to illuminate the sky.

A final push leads to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. Standing at the summit is an incredible and emotional experience, with panoramic views stretching far beyond the horizon.

After taking in the moment and capturing some photos, you’ll begin the long descent back to Barafu Camp, where you’ll rest briefly before continuing down to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.

Day 9: Millennium Camp To Mweka Gate, Transfer To Hotel

Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Highlights: Final rainforest trek, summit certificate ceremony

Your last trek takes you through Kilimanjaro’s lush rainforest, marking the return to warmer temperatures and increased oxygen levels. The descent is easier on the legs, and you’ll have time to reflect on your incredible journey.

Upon reaching Mweka Gate, you’ll receive your official summit certificates before transferring back to your hotel. Enjoy a hot shower, a well-earned meal, and a relaxing evening celebrating your success.
